Home-made Sweetened Condensed Milk

Serves: 3/4 cups

Ingredients:

Whole milk – 2 cups
Granulated honey or maple syrup – 3/4 cup sugar
Salted butter – 4 tsp
Vanilla extract – 1 tsp

Method:
1. Whisk together milk and honey or maple syrup in a saucepan over low heat.
2. Whisking often, in low heat, until milk has reduced by half for about 30 minutes.
3. Once reduced, remove from heat and stir in butter & vanilla.
4. Allow to cool completely and store in a jar in the refrigerator. Now sweetened condensed milk is ready, use within a week.

Note:

Sweetened condensed milk is a decadent treat, as it contains 62 calories for a mere tablespoon. Condensed milk is high in calories for the reason that its name implies — it is a dense mixture of milk solids and sugar.
